Cellist & Pianist based in North Austin, Texas
Allison Liu is a professional, Suzuki-certified trained cellist, pianist, and music educator based in Austin, Texas. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, she built her musical foundation under Irene Sharp, Jihee Kim, Kevin Yu, and Alison Lee, later studying with Professor Sarah Koo Freeman at the University of California, Irvine. She holds a B.M. in Cello Performance and a B.S. in Informatics from UC Irvine, and an M.S. in Information from the University of Michigan.
A versatile performer, Allison is a founding member of the SIA Piano Trio and recently served as principal cellist for the U-M Campus Philharmonic Orchestra (2024-2025). Previously, she was the Assistant Principal Cellist for the UCI Symphony Orchestra, where she coached her section and collaborated closely with conductors. Beyond the cello, she is an accomplished pianist with a decade of dedicated study, having passed the California Certificate of Merit Level 10. Deeply dedicated to community healing, she performs with The Endpin Project to support global relief efforts and has utilized music therapy to aid stroke survivors through STROKESTRA.

I primarily offer in-person lessons in the Austin, TX area. Online Zoom lessons are available on a case-by-case basis, as in-person instruction is significantly more effective, particularly for beginners. If scheduling permits, I am also happy to travel to students' homes for an additional charge.
Modifications to the lesson length, day, or time must be made at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a cancellation charge.
Lesson Rates (Online or In-Studio)
30 minutes: $40
1 hour: $70
Payments are paid one at a time. When you take a lesson, you pay for the lesson. Payment is due promptly at the end of each lesson. Accepted payment options include Zelle or Venmo.
I offer tailored private cello lessons for students of all ages and skill levels. Foundational piano lessons are offered for beginner to intermediate students, and basic music theory lessons are available to supplement any instrumental training.
